Abronia-Natural History
Abronia spend most of their lives up to 40 m above ground level among the epiphytes of the cloud forests in highlands between 1,500 and 3,000m above sea level. They are strictly diurnal; their prehensile tails are a particularly useful adaptation to the arboreal habitat. These lizards are insectivorous; predators are almost unknown but presumably snakes and birds feed on these species. All species of Abronia for which reproductive data are available bear live young.
