Project Palearis is currently raising funds for several crucial components which will act as the building blocks for the entire recovery program. Included are plans to purchase a 285-acre plot of land ($30,000) as a reserve and breeding facility site for both the Guatemalan Beaded Lizard and the Guatemalan Black Iguana. Construction of a facility will be with the aid of local labor and will be located at the base of the property. On-going research will help determine breeding strategies, and long-term ideas about a visitor attraction and headstarting facility.
