Cash is an easy and uncomplicated way to make a contribution. You can only deduct a cash gift for income tax purposes in the year that it is given. Cash donations are deductible up to 50% of your adjusted gross income in the taxable year.
Excess contributions other than cash can be applied to tax returns over the next five years. Cash gifts in excess of $250 must have documented support (receipt letter) from the receiver as the IRS no longer accepts cancelled checks as suitable proof of donation.
Cash contributions should be transferred via a Bank Draft, Money Order, or Wire Transfer. Bank Drafts and Money Orders can be sent registered mail to the following physical address:
