FREQUENT FLYER AIR MILES

Please note: donation of Frequent Flyer Miles are not tax deductible.

Don´t have any use for those Frequent Flyer Miles, or want to donate those unused Frequent Flyer Miles to assist get volunteers on site? We can put them to good use!

The IRCF FREQUENT FLYER PROGRAM is designed to make it easy for you to donate accumulated travel rewards to the IRCF. These donated miles help the IRCF limit costly air travel expenses. Individuals who must travel great distances on behalf of specific conservation programs can often benefit from assistance. Sending researchers, volunteers, medical and other labor resources to remote areas from the US is expensive. Although the need is often great, without proper funding, it must go unfulfilled. Your donated miles could help us with this difficult situation.

Most airlines consider this type of donation a “transfer of miles” and insist that the quantity per transfer needs to be equivalent to that of purchasing a ticket rather than allowing random amounts of miles to be transferred - typically this amount is between 25000-350000 miles. A few airlines will allow the transfer of small accounts into one larger account for a fee, so depending on the airline the large minimum mile transfer may be avoided.

You can elect to transfer your miles immediately or add your name to our “Donor List.” When the time comes that a flight is needed we review our “Donor List” and contact individuals who have accrued available miles with the airline that flies to our intended destination. At that time, we will contact you to see if you are still interested in donating your miles.

We attempt to handle the entire process ourselves but sometimes the airline will insist on minimum of interaction from the Frequent Flyer Member themselves to ensure that this transfer is proper.
